The Nebraska Department of Education seeks a School Finance Analyst (Program Specialist III) to provide essential research and leadership on school finance. Your work will directly inform educational policy decision-makers by collecting, verifying, and analyzing statewide school budget data and state aid information.
What You'll Do
- Research state aid and school finance information from paper-based sources, the internet, and online databases.
- Collaborate with department staff to analyze and verify state aid and school finance data for research and calculations.
- Develop financial models and conduct benchmarking and process analysis.
- Collect historical and comparative data to develop economic forecasts and trends.
- Track and determine financial trends by analyzing results compared to forecasts.
- Ensure project deadlines are met and develop and present briefs to guide long-term policy decision-making.
- Collaborate with staff to write state aid and school finance economic research specifications, requirements, and objectives.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance, travel independently, and work in a variety of settings.
What We're Looking For
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Four years of experience related to the essential functions of the position.
Nice to Have
- A master’s degree in a related field, such as finance or accounting.
- At least four years of experience in financial analysis or working within financial research.
