Lehigh Valley Health Network is looking for a Scheduling Coordinator to join our nationally recognized, forward-thinking organization. You will coordinate all patient scheduling activities, including appointments, procedures, and exams across multiple hospital departments, physician practices, and outpatient facilities. Your work will facilitate essential communication between staff, referral sources, and physician offices, playing a key role in our commitment to delivering the best health care possible every day.
What You'll Do
- Collect clinical information, obtain insurance details, and verify patient demographics to ensure appropriate scheduling of screening and diagnostic tests.
- Schedule patients for physician appointments and diagnostic test procedures.
- Educate patients, families, and physician offices regarding department protocols, procedures, insurance, referrals, and testing criteria.
- Monitor practice protocols and department procedures and make recommendations for improvement.
- Utilize scheduling software and other patient-specific software applications to facilitate patient access into the network.
- Serve as a resource for staff, physicians, and referring offices.
- Strive to reduce errors, minimize rework, and avoid defects through conscientious attention to detail.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma/GED.
- 6 months of medical office, call center, or customer service-oriented work experience OR, in lieu of experience, the completion of an Associate's Degree program or higher.
- Ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple responsibilities.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to enter information accurately into electronic systems.
- Demonstrated ability to handle stressful situations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Nice to Have
- Familiarization with EMR and scheduling systems such as EPIC or PHS.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish.
