About the Role
Responsible for supporting the development and implementation of roadway design projects, including planning, technical analysis, and coordination with engineering teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed roadway designs using engineering standards and software tools
- Conduct field reviews and site assessments to support design accuracy
- Prepare construction plans, specifications, and estimates
- Collaborate with civil and transportation engineers on project deliverables
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations
- Support project management activities including scheduling and reporting
- Perform calculations for grading, drainage, and pavement design
- Review design documents for technical accuracy and completeness
- Coordinate with survey and mapping teams for data integration
- Assist in the preparation of environmental documentation
- Participate in design meetings with clients and agencies
- Apply sustainable design practices to transportation projects
- Utilize CAD and civil design software for drafting and modeling
- Respond to requests for information during construction phases
- Contribute to quality control and assurance processes
- Support the development of preliminary engineering reports
- Work with cross-functional teams on multi-phase infrastructure programs
- Stay current with industry standards and design guidelines
- Assist in mentoring junior engineering staff
- Address design challenges with practical and efficient solutions
Nice to Have
- Experience with MicroStation or InRoads software
- Participation in transportation planning studies
- Familiarity with NEPA documentation processes
- Project experience with state Department of Transportation agencies
- Background in intelligent transportation systems (ITS)
- Knowledge of construction administration procedures
