MyFlorida’s Department of Management Services is hiring a Roadway Designer IV to oversee and coordinate the development of contract plans and specifications for transportation projects. You will be responsible for complex engineering calculations and design development, directly contributing to a safe and efficient statewide transportation system.
What You'll Do
- Oversee and coordinate the development and preparation of contract plans and specifications.
- Utilize computer aided drafting and design (CADD) software in plans preparation and development.
- Ensure plans and specifications adhere to appropriate design criteria, policy, and procedures.
- Assemble roadway design plans, signing and pavement marking plans, signalization plans, lighting plans, No Passing Zone Studies, typical section packages, scopes of work, design exceptions, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) plans, and utility conflict reports.
- Perform complex engineering and geometric calculations for project design.
- Develop alignment and grade, including horizontal and vertical curves.
- Determine bid items, associated quantities, and compile quantity summaries.
- Develop special designs for intersections, maintenance of traffic, profile grades, and other roadway components with minimal supervision.
- Develop and update project schedules with minimal supervision.

- Internal Agency Restriction: Only current Florida Department of Transportation employees will be considered.

Benefits & Compensation
- Salary Range: $70,616.01 - $91,385.42 annually ($2,716.00 - $3,514.82 biweekly).
