Allegheny Health Network (AHN) is looking for a Registered Nurse (Full Time) to join our Women and Infants unit (3 North) at AHN Wexford Hospital. This RN assesses patient needs, plans and implements nursing care, and evaluates outcomes for individuals and families. The unit consists of 20 beds: 6 Labor & Delivery, 10 Postpartum, and 4 Level II NICU, all in private rooms.
What You'll Do
- Provide leadership in a professional practice setting, acting as a team player and contributing through role modeling and mentoring.
- Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill level.
- Assign duties and lunches for staff when performing the charge role.
- Consider safety, patient condition, intervention complexity, and outcome predictability in all actions.
- Provide peers with verbal and written feedback regarding clinical practice and role performance.
- Share knowledge and skills with peers and colleagues, accepting mistakes of self and others.
- Participate on an interdisciplinary team to evaluate clinical care or health services.
- Promote patient safety initiatives and participate in department-specific quality initiatives.
- Supervise, delegate, and evaluate assigned LPN scope of practice as appropriate.
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement a patient plan of care.
- Derive culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes involving patient, family, and other providers.
- Analyze health status of individuals and families to determine patient care needs.
- Assess patient reports/records, report changes of condition, intervene appropriately, and document accordingly.
- Accept assignments in areas other than primary unit and perform duties within competency.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous lifelong learning for self and others.
- Promote advancement of the profession through participation in professional organizations.
- Seek learning activities using current research to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills.
- Participate in systematic peer review and obtain informal feedback on own practice.
- Meet time and attendance guidelines per hospital policy.
- Continuously evaluate and assess patient and family satisfaction.
- Participate in department-specific patient satisfaction initiatives.
- Promote compassionate, patient- and family-centered communication.
- Assess for and attempt to resolve patient/family concerns.
- Utilize effective time management skills to complete duties within the established shift.
What We're Looking For
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
- CPR certification
Nice to Have
- Certification in area of specialty
- Prior experience in Postpartum highly preferred
Team & Environment
You'll work on an interdisciplinary team and may supervise or delegate to LPNs and support staff.

This is an onsite position located in Wexford, PA.
