About the Role

Allegheny Health Network is hiring a Medical Assistant to support our Primary Care practice on Banksville Rd. As a member of the health care team, you will assist providers in coordinating patient examinations, treatment, and health care planning. You will also perform key office functions to support patient care and daily operations.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in coordinating patient care using a team-based approach.
  • Prepare and room patients according to standardized workflows.
  • Accurately obtain patient vital signs, history, and medication lists.
  • May assist with depression screening tools and annual wellness visit screenings.
  • Update patient records, including social history and medications in the EHR.
  • Prepare and 'cue up' provider orders based on approved protocols.
  • Perform back office testing and assist providers with examinations and procedures.
  • May serve as a scribe with additional training.
  • Conduct patient follow-up via their preferred method per provider instructions.
  • Notify patients of test results in a timely manner under provider direction.
  • Prepare exam rooms and ensure adequate inventory of medical supplies.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments according to policy and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Perform lab controls, equipment checks, and administer medications per policy.
  • Document accurately in the electronic health record.
  • Perform clerical office functions and other duties as assigned.
  • May require floating between physician office locations.

What We're Looking For

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program OR 1 year of Medical Assistant experience OR 1 year in a direct patient care role involving vital signs.
  • Experience must align with expected clinical duties (e.g., injections, phlebotomy, EKGs).
  • CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
  • New hires who graduated from an MA program within five years or have one year of MA work experience in the last three years must complete certification training/testing within 30 days of hire and obtain certification within 120 days.
  • Acceptable Medical Assistant Certification (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA).

  • An Associate's Degree.
