About the Role

Allegheny Health Network (AHN) is hiring a Patient Access Coordinator II for its Sleep Medicine department at AGH. In this full-time, daylight shift role, you create the first impression of AHN's services, completing critical tasks like scheduling, pre-registration, and financial clearance. You will articulate information to patients and families while assuming clinical and financial risk for the organization.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct scheduling and preregistration functions, validate patient demographic data, and verify medical benefits.
  • Obtain limited clinical data based on service required and update all necessary information for accurate billing.
  • Verify insurance information through payor contacts via telephone, online resources, or electronic verification systems.
  • Identify payor authorization and referral requirements, providing documentation and follow-up to physician offices, case management, and payors.
  • Calculate patient financial responsibilities, collect liabilities, and post payment transactions.
  • Identify self-pay accounts and complex liability calculations, escalating to Financial Counselors as appropriate.
  • Deliver a positive patient experience and maintain excellent working relationships with patients, AHN leadership, staff, and external agencies.
  • Maintain focus on attaining productivity standards and recommend innovative approaches for enhancing performance.
  • Adhere to AHN organizational policies and procedures and complete mandatory training.
  • Communicate team barriers or process issues to team leads and assist team members with operational support and training.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination.
  • Two previous years of related experience, preferably within a medical setting, financial services, or a demanding customer service environment.
  • Experience operating a PC and using software applications.

Nice to Have

  • Certification with Healthcare Financial Management Association or as a Certified Revenue Cycle Representative.
  • Call Center or Service Center experience.
