Allegheny Health Network is hiring a full-time RN for the Cath Lab at our Wexford location. In this role, you will perform direct nursing care during cardiac catheterization, interventional radiology, electrophysiology, and hybrid operating room procedures.
What You'll Do
- Participate in the care of patients undergoing Cardiac Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology, Electrophysiology, and Hybrid Operating Room procedures.
- Prepare patients for procedures, including explaining the process, obtaining informed consent, and verifying allergies and medical history.
- Integrate knowledge of cardiovascular and peripheral vascular physiology, pathophysiology, and procedural techniques.
- Position patients and select anatomical and technical parameters accurately for imaging per established protocol.
- Prepare for and assist the physician and/or physician assistant during procedures.
- Maintain competency to administer and monitor Moderate Sedation, vasoactive medications, and anticoagulants as directed.
- Anticipate adverse reactions and respond appropriately while monitoring procedural activities.
- Perform scrub functions, preparing equipment, managing instrumentation, and maintaining a sterile field.
- Practice proper aseptic techniques and standard precautions, following policy for medication and specimen handling.
- Prepare contrast media and practice aseptic technique before, during, and after procedures.
- Complete required procedural documentation, including regulatory, billing protocols, and image storage.
- Maintain adequate supplies for efficient operations and participate in inventory control.
- Orient inexperienced staff on laboratory equipment operation and troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Provide accurate and thorough nurse-to-nurse handoff to the receiving unit.
- Be available to cross-train as appropriate in various areas.
What We're Looking For
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
- BLS and ACLS Certification
Nice to Have
- Certification in area of specialty
- RCIS Certification, which is encouraged within five years
