CVS Health is seeking a Medical Scribe (Clinical Informatics Specialist) to join Oak Street Health. In this role, you will support our primary care providers by handling clinical documentation, enabling them to focus on delivering exceptional patient care. This position is excellent for those on a pre-med track or pursuing careers in health informatics and related fields, offering practical, paid experience in a clinical environment.
What You'll Do
- Document patient encounters in a structured note, including history of present illness, assessment, plan, and physical exam.
- Assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes.
- Prepare After Visit Summaries.
- Consult with providers to ensure accurate and specific documentation.
- Request and review medical records.
- Leverage population health tools to support clinical documentation improvement.
- Prepare for and support Daily Huddles and Clinical Documentation Reviews.
- Consult with providers on clinical documentation opportunities.
- Place orders and referrals.
- Address assigned tasks.
- Support the care team with additional responsibilities related to clinical documentation.
What We're Looking For
- Knowledge of medical terminology and common medications from a pre-medical degree or prior clinical experience.
- Advanced listening and communication skills.
- Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new technical workflows.
- Fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other community languages where required.
- Ability to adapt to new workflows and quickly learn new concepts.
- Ability and willingness to take direction and be a team member, adapting to provider working styles.
- Excellent job attendance and ability to work in-person in our clinics.
- Ability to commit to at least 1 year in the role.
- Ability to work approximately 40-45 hours per week during clinic hours with predictable schedules.
- Compliance with hospital and Oak Street Health policies, including HIPAA.
- US work authorization.
Nice to Have
- Prior clinical experience, including shadowing or volunteering.
- Prior scribe or transcription experience.
- Typing speed of 70+ words per minute.
