About the Role

The Allegheny Health Network is hiring a Medical Assistant to support patient care at our FPMA Primary Care office in Jefferson. As a vital member of the health care team, you will assist providers in coordinating examinations, treatments, and health care planning. You will also perform essential office functions to ensure smooth clinical operations.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in coordinating patient care using a team-based approach under provider supervision.
  • Prepare and room patients according to standard clinical workflows.
  • Accurately obtain patient vital signs and document health history and medications.
  • Administer depression screenings and complete annual wellness visit screenings.
  • Update and screen medication lists and social histories in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Prepare and pend orders for age-appropriate screenings, prescriptions, and refills per approved protocols.
  • Perform back office testing and assist providers with examinations and procedures.
  • Conduct patient follow-ups via their preferred method and notify patients of test results.
  • Maintain exam rooms and ensure adequate inventory of medical supplies.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments per policy and accurately perform lab controls.
  • Administer and document medications safely per policy.
  • Accurately perform clerical office functions and travel between office locations as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program OR 1 year of Medical Assistant experience OR 1 year in a direct patient care role involving vital signs.
  • Experience must align with clinical duties like injections, phlebotomy, and EKGs.
  • CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance, Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance, and Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Clearance.
  • New hires must obtain an accepted Medical Assistant Certification (NHA, AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA) within 120 days if they meet specific recency criteria.

Nice to Have

  • Associate's Degree.
