The Researcher will contribute to applied research initiatives aimed at transforming how government services are designed and delivered. This role centers on identifying real-world challenges in public benefit programs—including Medicaid, SNAP, and unemployment insurance—and developing practical, evidence-based solutions that prioritize the needs of communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support research projects that address pressing issues in digital government service delivery
- Incorporate lived experience, qualitative data, and emerging practices to inform policy and program improvements
- Explore topics such as human-centered design, data use, AI integration, and public sector capacity building
- Focus on enhancing access and equity in public benefits systems through innovative approaches
- Produce diverse research outputs, including reports, datasets, landscape scans, and interactive prototypes
- Collaborate iteratively with cross-sector partners, practitioners, and government stakeholders
- Mentor student analysts and contribute to team development
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and have 3–5 years of professional experience, including at least two years conducting and publishing applied research in policy, public administration, civic technology, or a related field. Familiarity with major public benefit programs and the role of technology in service delivery is essential. Strong project management, communication, and synthesis skills are required.
Preferred candidates will have experience with ethical research practices, human-subject protections, or Institutional Review Board protocols. A demonstrated commitment to equity, experience translating complex findings for diverse audiences, and alignment with a vision of inclusive, digitally-enabled government are highly valued.
