About the Role

Charles River Laboratories is looking for a Research Scientist I to join our team. You will serve as a key scientific member, conducting preclinical and clinical research studies of basic to moderate complexity. Your work will directly contribute to our mission of improving the quality of people's lives through excellent science and a strong sense of purpose.

What You'll Do

  • Function independently as a Project Scientist, Principal Investigator, or Individual Scientist to direct and execute assigned studies in full regulatory compliance.
  • Provide scientific expertise in study conduct, design, and interpretation, reviewing, integrating, and presenting data.
  • Design, develop, and validate novel assays within your scientific discipline and author high-quality laboratory methods, protocols, and reports.
  • Critically review analytical results, troubleshoot technical issues, and analyze scientific problems.
  • Coordinate all phases of the study planning process and serve as the primary point of contact for sponsor interaction on assigned studies.
  • Mentor junior staff in protocol interpretation, method development, and problem resolution.
  • Contribute to testing new analytical technologies and attend scientific meetings to enhance professional skills.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent in a scientific discipline.
  • Understanding of relevant regulatory requirements, SOPs, and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Graphpad Prism, and standard laboratory calculations.

Nice to Have

  • A related Master's degree (M.S./M.A.) or PhD/DVM.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in the development and/or validation of assays (e.g., chromatographic bioanalytical).
  • Experience working in a contract research organization.
  • Familiarity with Watson LIMS.
