ESPN is looking for a Remote Drone Visual Observer to support our Drone Operations team on remote broadcast events. This role is crucial for ensuring safe and successful drone operations, covering setup, in-flight monitoring, and on-site technical assistance.
What You'll Do
- Maintain visual line of sight with the drone during all flight operations.
- Scan the airspace for potential hazards, such as other aircraft, obstacles, or people.
- Communicate effectively with the Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC), relaying the drone's position, altitude, and any hazards.
- Assist with battery and lens changes on the drone.
- Troubleshoot problems including camera, cabling, and lens issues.
- Manage and organize gear and connectivity for the drone, video, and communications systems.
What We're Looking For
- A valid US driver's license.
- Demonstrated knowledge of FAA Part 107 regulations.
- Knowledge of UAS operations within a production environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to visually inspect equipment and materials to ensure quality standards are met.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with team members and clients, both in person and over the phone.
- Proficient knowledge of live production environments.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills using technical acumen.
- Schedule flexibility to travel and work weekends and holidays as required.
- A High School Diploma.
Nice to Have
- Strong knowledge of broadcast equipment and remote production show needs.
