GE HealthCare is looking for a Wind Hub Technician to join our IL3 Hub team, based in the Champaign Area, IL. In this role, you will be critical to maintaining optimal function and output at our wind sites through daily, hands-on work on turbine operations, safety, and quality control. You’ll partner with site leadership to execute contract requirements, with daily local travel within the Illinois hub.
What You'll Do
- Work with site and hub leadership to execute contractual obligations per customer requirements on a daily basis, including work on the electrical and mechanical equipment of GE wind turbine generators.
- Perform maintenance, repair, or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch and variable speed turbines.
- Help in all areas of site operations as directed by manager with minimal supervision, observing all safety requirements.
- Perform some diagnostic electrical analysis.
- Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures.
- Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic, OR a completed Wind Certificate Program/Associates Degree in Energy, OR 2 years of electrical work experience.
- Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to handle repetitive weight - 50 lbs - and climb towers up to 300 feet daily.
- Ability to meet specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300lbs including required gear.
- Ability and willingness to work in a range of environments to include industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilities.
- Ability to effectively prioritize work according to contract obligations.
- Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision.
- Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and be on-call per site needs.
- Willingness for occasional overnights as required per hub needs.
Nice to Have
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field from an accredited college or university.
- Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic field.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside of the Wind Farm.
- Wind turbine experience.
- Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience.
- Experience using hydraulic power tools.
- Experience with heavy equipment required for facility maintenance with a working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements.

This is an onsite position. Primary work locations include wind sites across central Illinois such as California Ridge (Fithian, IL), Ford Ridge (Sibley, IL), Rivian (Normal, IL), Bennington (Minonk, IL), and Blooming Grove (Lexington, IL).
