In this role, you'll be responsible for delivering clinically competent care - from assessment to intervention and evaluation - for a specific patient group. This might involve delegating appropriate tasks to direct care staff like RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians. As part of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) healthcare team, you'll engage in decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities that directly impact patient care outcomes and facility operations. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: All duties will be performed in line with Fresenius Kidney Care policy, nursing practice standards, and state/federal regulations. • Performs all essential functions under supervisor guidance and collaboration with Clinical Educator, Preceptor, or fellow Registered Nurses • Conducts systematic patient data collection and analysis before, during, and after hemodialysis treatment, documenting in patient records and adjusting treatment plans as needed • Assesses and documents patient/family learning needs, providing ongoing education • Directs and collaborates on safe, effective hemodialysis therapy delivery • Administers prescribed medications and documents medical justification • Initiates or assists with emergency response measures • Serves as a healthcare team resource and assists with staff training/orientation • Ensures proper laboratory collection, processing, and shipping • Identifies and updates patient care outcomes through interdisciplinary collaboration • Ensures patient awareness of transplant and treatment options • Completes CAP requirements for advancement • Performs additional duties as assigned PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: These demands represent typical job requirements, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities. • Provides direct patient care involving heavy lifting, patient movement, and ambulation assistance • Requires prolonged standing and ability to bend • May occasionally move equipment up to 200 lbs and lift chemical solutions up to 30 lbs • Works in climate-controlled healthcare environment with moderate noise levels • Potential exposure to infectious materials • Involves desk work, computer tasks, and interaction with patients/staff • May require travel to training sites • Might perform essential functions in different locations with similar conditions SUPERVISION: Can oversee Patient Care Technicians/LPNs/LVNs/RNs as Team Leader after: • Completing all FKC new employee training • Minimum 9 months RN experience • Minimum 3 months chronic/acute hemodialysis RN experience EDUCATION and LICENSURE: • Graduate of accredited Nursing School • Current state licensure • Current/completed CPR BLS Certification • Meets state practice requirements EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS: • Entry level for RNs with less than 1 year Nephrology Nursing experience • Minimum 9 months RN experience (preferred) • Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience (preferred) EO/AA Employer: Minorities/Females/Veterans/Disability/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity Fresenius Medical Care North America maintains a drug-free workplace in accordance with applicable federal and state laws.
