McKesson is hiring a Registered Nurse to provide professional nursing care, including the intravenous or injection administration of biologics and specialty pharmaceuticals. This role involves patient health assessments, collaborating with physicians and a multidisciplinary team, and providing medical therapies and patient education in an ambulatory clinic environment.
What You'll Do
- Assess patient health status using a pre-screening process to determine therapy eligibility.
- Insert peripheral intravenous lines or access central lines using sterile technique.
- Handle and reconstitute biologic or oncology medication per manufacturer and Health Canada guidelines.
- Follow provincial College of Nurses standards for medication administration.
- Identify patient care requirements; educate and counsel patients on their condition and medication.
- Document patient care services and manage records per INVIVA policies.
- Follow patient-specific medical directives for administration and adverse event treatment.
- Report adverse events per manufacturer requirements, Health Canada, and INVIVA policy.
- Provide medical therapy monitoring and post-administration observation.
- Maintain knowledge of medical therapies per Health Canada’s Product Monograph.
- Adhere to drug accountability requirements per INVIVA policy.
- Train and mentor new clinic staff.
- Complete required training on products, policies, technology, and quality assurance.
- Maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards for safe nursing practice.
- Ensure continuity of care by documenting and communicating actions and patient needs.
- Establish a compassionate environment and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Maintain a safe, clean working environment by complying with procedures and regulations.
- Ensure proper equipment operation by completing preventive maintenance.
- Maintain clinic medical and stationary supply levels.
- Maintain up-to-date professional knowledge through workshops and education.
- Contribute to team effort and corporate goals.
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of relevant experience, degree, or equivalent.
- RN registration with the College of Nurses of British Columbia, Canada, in good standing.
- Infusion certification or equivalent experience.
- Current CPR certification.
- Yearly practice membership with provincial College of Nurses Association in good standing.
- Ability to work at various clinics depending on region.
- For Ontario applicants: yearly professional liability insurance.
- Excellent assessment and clinical decision-making skills.
- Strong clinical, nursing, and listening skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and proficiently, especially in emergencies.
- Excellent communication skills with patients, colleagues, and customers.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment.
- Team player mentality.
- Ability to work in a computerized environment (MS Office, email, electronic patient records).
- Adaptable to different corporate environments.
