About the Role

Northwestern Memorial Healthcare is looking for a Registered Nurse to join our Complex Care team. In this full-time, days role, you will apply the nursing process to prescribe, delegate, and coordinate care for acutely ill patients. Your responsibilities will also include providing phone triage and delivering abnormal test results with corresponding care instructions.

What You'll Do

  • Perform all aspects of patient care using evidence-based practice to optimize safety and reduce errors.
  • Administer medications following the six medication rights, adjusting for patient age and clinical condition.
  • Assess, analyze, and integrate data to evaluate patients' physical, psychosocial, safety, learning, cultural, and self-care needs.
  • Identify patient care needs, problems, and variances, incorporating them into the care plan.
  • Evaluate patient and family learning needs, abilities, and barriers; explain procedures, therapies, and treatments.
  • Develop, implement, and update an individualized plan of care that includes nursing, teaching, and discharge planning.
  • Adequately assess and reassess pain, utilize appropriate management techniques, and educate patients and families.
  • Use quality improvement results to initiate changes in nursing practice and healthcare delivery.
  • Participate in shared governance, committee work, and department projects.

What We're Looking For

  • Current nursing experience within the past five years or status as a new graduate within the past two years.
  • Current Registered Nurse license for the state of employment.
  • CPR – Basic Life Support certification.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • One year of experience in a pertinent clinical specialty.
  • Proficiency in a second language.
