Responsibilities
- Expand the membership base by organizing in-person events, text and call campaigns, digital outreach, and attending local gatherings.
- Run a combined in-person and virtual program to integrate new members using relational organizing, welcome events, and pathways to membership meetings.
- Develop a network of activists to support electoral priorities within the assigned region.
- Achieve party-building and organizing targets in the designated area.
- Gain and apply understanding of the political and community dynamics in assigned parts of the state.
- Organize and recruit for in-person canvassing and virtual phone and text banking events for endorsed candidates in the region.
- Recruit, train, and oversee local volunteers and allied campaign staff in using organizing tools like Spoke, PDI, Scale to Win, and Mobilize.
- Assess the effectiveness of organizing and electoral initiatives, and recommend and implement adjustments to methods and processes based on regional conditions.
Requirements
- At least two years of in-person or virtual electoral, campaign, or neighborhood-based organizing experience.
- Strong dedication to social, economic, and racial justice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Demonstrated organizing skills, including effectiveness in engaging potential activists and supporters.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Drive and persistence to advance the mission and values.
- Ability to work independently with strong follow-through and self-direction on tasks.
- Attention to detail and capacity to manage project logistics, paperwork, and deadlines.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, peers, public officials, and allies.
- Must currently live in the region or be willing to relocate.
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
Nice to Have
- Experience in grassroots non-profit, labor, or political organizing.
- Spanish language fluency.
- Familiarity with VAN or other voter file data.
- Experience with phone banking tools such as Hubdialer, Thrutalk, Upland (Mobile Commons), and social media/email platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Action Network.
- Experience using EveryAction to track volunteer activity.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software.
- Experience working with labor or grassroots organizations in the region.
- Political intelligence and good judgment.

Team
This is a unionized workplace. The role is non-managerial and eligible to join the staff bargaining unit after six months of employment. The union employees are represented by the New York Metropolitan Area Joint Board, Workers United.
