PepsiCo is hiring an R&D FSQA Associate Principal Scientist to lead food safety risk assessment and strategic development for beverage ingredients. In this role, you will develop new food safety assessment tools and spearhead digital initiatives to enhance supplier collaboration.
What You'll Do
- Lead end-to-end beverage ingredient microbiology and food safety assessment for biological, chemical, and physical hazards.
- Provide mitigation strategies for innovation, technical brand stewardship, and experimental projects.
- Deliver food safety hazard assessments to support FDA audits for PGCS facilities.
- Develop food safety strategies and policies for the Beverage Category.
- Interface with cross-functional teams from product development, regulatory affairs, supply quality assurance, operations, and supply chain.
- Manage ingredient-related food safety programs, including pathogen sensitive ingredient, FS upon request, and surveillance programs.
- Develop and introduce new biological and chemical hazards risk assessment toolkits, guidance documents, and training.
- Provide governance for contractors supporting specifications and reporting metrics to drive change.
- Lead beverage food safety supplier collaboration digitization.
- Enhance the current food safety hazard assessment tool.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science and Technology, Food Microbiology, Bioscience with Food Safety, or a related field.
- Ten (10) years of experience in Food Safety.
- Ten (10) years of experience with hazard assessment for biological, chemical, allergen, and physical hazards.
- Ten (10) years of experience with Food Safety Programs, including environmental monitoring, sanitation, and pathogen sensitive ingredient programs.
- Ten (10) years of experience with HACCP certification and PCQI.
- Ten (10) years of experience with beverage ingredient and manufacturing processes.
- Ten (10) years of applied knowledge of Food Safety Management Systems (e.g., FSMA-PCQI, HACCP, GFSI-FSSC 22000).
- Ten (10) years of experience in food safety & quality for a global consumer goods company.
- Ten (10) years demonstrating practical application of risk assessment and management through CAPA tools.
- Ten (10) years demonstrating project management capabilities with both business and technical focus.
- Five (5) years of experience with knowledge of digital solutions.
- Five (5) years of experience with supplier food safety audits.
- Five (5) years of experience with regulatory inspection and compliance.
Team & Environment
You will interface with cross-functional teams comprised of individuals from a variety of disciplines, including product development, regulatory affairs, supply quality assurance, operations, and supply chain.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position based at 100 E Stevens Avenue, Valhalla, New York 10595.
Compensation range: $123,802 - $135,000 per year.
