C4 Therapeutics is seeking a Principal Scientist, Structural Biology to apply structural biology techniques to the discovery and optimization of small molecule targeted protein degraders. You will manage external CROs to support the mechanistic understanding and optimization of molecules that promote ternary complex formation between E3 ligases and disease drivers, collaborating closely with biologists, chemists, and computational scientists.
What You'll Do
- Maintain state-of-the-art structural biology capabilities by managing CROs to support ligand discovery, complex characterization, and degrader design.
- Contribute to drug discovery projects using X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM techniques through CRO management.
- Provide structural biology guidance in the design of protein constructs for screens and compound progression.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with strategic partners and collaborators.
- Work as a leader across functional areas to drive structure-based drug discoveries throughout the portfolio.
What We're Looking For
- A PhD in Structural Biology, Biophysics, or a related field with a minimum of eight years of experience in a Life Science setting.
- Deep understanding and extensive experience with X-ray crystallography.
- Familiarity with in vitro biochemical and biophysical methods such as SPR, FP, FRET, ITC and their application to structure-activity relationships.
- Experience with small-molecule drug discovery and effectively introducing new technologies.
- Experience in managing CROs.
Nice to Have
- Experience with cryoEM and/or familiarity with other structural methods such as HDX-MS and SAXS.
- Experience with DNA encoded library (DEL) platforms.
Technical Stack
- X-ray crystallography
- cryo-EM
- SPR, FP, FRET, ITC
- HDX-MS, SAXS
