PepsiCo is hiring an Associate Scientist to lead laboratory management for the Poppi Team. You'll be responsible for ensuring the lab operates safely and efficiently while supporting product development from prototyping through testing.
What You'll Do
- Lead Poppi Team Lab responsibilities, including inventory, safety, and equipment management.
- Work closely with Poppi Team associates on all project requirements inside and outside of the laboratory.
- Enable Poppi Team Tech Center runs, managing raw materials, batch sheets, weigh outs, and analytical submissions for data collection.
- Ensure all lab equipment and supplies are in working order and properly stocked.
- Act as Area Safety Representative, conducting monthly audits, maintaining GMPs, and stocking safety PPE.
- Manage scheduling and maintenance of lab equipment and train developers on operating procedures.
- Manage purchase orders for team submissions to external vendors for product analytical testing.
- Support bench top prototyping for all Poppi projects.
- Manage shelf-life testing across all active projects for sensory and analytical evaluation.
- Submit samples for microbiological, analytical, forensics, and stability evaluations.
- Prepare ingredients for tech center runs and commercial plant trials.
- Identify new project opportunities for team support.
What We're Looking For
- B.S. in Food Science or a related field with at least 1-2 years in product development or associated R&D functions.
- Ability to manage a variety of projects and communicate identified challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively in stressful, fast-paced situations, with the personal leadership to influence and positively motivate self and peers.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Travel required (US and International)—estimated at ~5-10%.
Nice to Have
- Experience with producing ready-to-drink beverages is desirable.
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation range: $73,600 - $123,150.
