Kiewit Corporation's Southeast District is hiring a Quality Inspector-Structural for a significant central Everglades construction project with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in structural inspection, focusing on concrete formwork, rebar, and mass concrete processes, and will report directly to the Quality Control Manager.
What You'll Do
- Read and interpret construction plans, formwork layouts, and rebar drawings.
- Inspect formwork erection and stripping, rebar installation, mass concrete thermal controls, and concrete placement and curing for footings, walls, and elevated slabs.
- Promote and maintain effective communication with district management, project teams, engineers, and clients.
- Examine field conditions to identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost-saving opportunities, taking corrective action as needed.
- Identify potential safety hazards and implement corrective actions to eliminate or minimize risks.
What We're Looking For
- An engineering, science, or technical college degree with at least 4 years of education, plus 2 years of related construction field experience.
- 2-5 years of direct experience in structural inspection.
- Working knowledge of construction practices, codes (ASME, AWS, ACI), and non-destructive examination procedures.
- Ability to work in Microsoft Excel and other iOS applications.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with deadlines and frequent interruptions.
- A commitment to regular, reliable attendance and productive work meeting deadlines.
- Effective and professional communication and interaction skills with supervisors, employees, and teams.
- Dedication to performing work safely, following all oral and written instructions and policies.
- Ability to work during normal operating hours, with overtime and weekends as required, at various locations with varying conditions.
