Graham Packaging Company is hiring a Quality Assurance Technician

About the Role

Graham Packaging Company is looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to join our team in Mason, OH. In this role, you will be responsible for attaining and maintaining standards of quality for bottles as defined by drawings, product specifications, and Quality Assurance procedures. This position works a 12-hour day shift (6:45 am - 7:00 pm) on a 2/2/4 rotating schedule.

What You'll Do

  • Understand, follow, and enforce all established safety, health, quality GMP, and Company policies.
  • Communicate effectively about quality with supervisors, managers, other shifts, and departments.
  • Setup and maintain product files in the Infinity QS data collection system.
  • Develop and analyze statistical data, control charts, and product specifications to establish quality expectations.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement projects and other related activities.
  • Create and implement inspection criteria and procedures.
  • Maintain Quality Inspection Procedures.
  • Complete all required written documentation and forms.
  • Coordinate and manage the held ware and rework processes.
  • Coordinate quality activity with other departments to achieve plant objectives.
  • Coordinate quality control training for employees engaged in inspection and testing.
  • Play an active role on teams within the organization.
  • Assist in customer complaints investigation and the corrective action process.
  • Assure Operators and PMT Leads follow procedures to conduct tests and inspections.
  • Change over challenge test samples during product change overs.
  • Assist all plant personnel in support of Infinity and quality reporting systems.
  • Conduct and participate in gage R&R studies.
  • Conduct process Audits and finished goods audits for every machine, reporting visual defects.
  • Complete product qualifications and First Articles tests as required after Mold/Color changes.
  • Analyze Statically Process Charts (SPC) and evaluate trends.
  • Retest bottle measurements from Production as needed to verify quality conforms to standards.
  • Perform multiple inspection tests to ensure parts meet or exceed specifications.
  • Identify and segregate non-conforming product according to established procedures.
  • Audit rejected materials and customer returns, reporting findings.
  • Monitor Challenge test samples and QA Supplies, requesting replacements as needed.
  • Cover for vacation absences as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of all caps and notify QA Manager when inventory is low.
  • Maintain work area and test samples in a clean and orderly fashion.

What We're Looking For

  • A minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.
  • Essential computer usage and typing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion.
  • Communicates facts and information clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Collaborates well with others and proactively contributes to group objectives.

Nice to Have

  • Minimum of 6 months of direct quality experience.
