Skylight is hiring a Senior QA Engineer to join our team. You will lead testing efforts for software running on custom hardware, including embedded Android devices, mobile apps, and web platforms. This is a highly collaborative role where you will work within a cross-functional pod to design test plans, perform exploratory testing, implement automation, and ensure a high-quality user experience.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with product and engineering during project scoping to identify risk and establish test plans.
- Perform manual exploratory testing and validation of new projects within your pod.
- Test Android-based software running on custom hardware and firmware.
- Work with engineers and QA to define, design, implement, and maintain automated test scripts across our tech stacks.
- Participate in bug triage and incident response to reproduce and advocate for timely resolution of important software defects.
- Collaborate with QA team members across pods to improve testing efficiency and foster a sustainable workload.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in the quality assurance field.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Capable of analyzing business requirements from a customer’s perspective.
- Hands-on testing experience with mobile devices (Android + iOS).
- Experience testing software on embedded Android devices.
- Familiarity with ADB, system logs, and Android internals.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify and foresee requirement gaps.
- Experienced with logging and tracking defects throughout the defect lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of the SDLC, Agile testing, and software testing methodologies.

For Colorado and California-based candidates, compensation is $150-$170K based on experience, plus equity.
