The Senior QA Engineer will work within a cross-functional engineering team to ensure high-quality delivery of Android-based software on custom hardware and firmware. This role combines manual and automated testing with strong collaboration across product and engineering teams, emphasizing quality advocacy, user empathy, and proactive risk identification during project planning.
Responsibilities
- Work with product and engineering teams during project planning to assess risks and develop comprehensive test strategies.
- Perform manual exploratory testing to validate new features and functionality within your cross-functional pod.
- Test Android applications running on specialized hardware and firmware platforms.
- Partner with engineers and QA peers to define, build, and maintain automated test scripts across mobile, web, and backend systems.
- Engage in bug triage and incident response by reproducing issues and advocating for prompt resolution of critical defects.
- Collaborate with QA colleagues across teams to enhance testing practices and maintain balanced workloads.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of professional quality assurance experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to evaluate business requirements from the end-user perspective.
- Hands-on experience testing applications on both Android and iOS mobile devices.
- Proven background testing software on embedded Android systems.
- Familiarity with Android Debug Bridge (ADB), system logs, and internal Android architecture.
- Solid troubleshooting, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Skill in identifying missing or incomplete requirements early in the development cycle.
- Experience managing defects through all stages of the defect lifecycle.
- In-depth knowledge of software development life cycles, Agile testing practices, and testing methodologies.
