UMass Memorial Health is looking for a Public Safety Officer to join the team at the Webster Campus of Harrington Hospital. In this 16-hour, dayshift position, you will provide security for the safety and protection of the hospital’s patients, staff, visitors, and properties. Your primary duties will include regular patrols and ensuring a secure environment for all.
What You'll Do
- Patrol buildings and grounds of Harrington Memorial Hospital periodically.
- Examine doors, windows, and other points of entry to determine they are secure.
- Tag and record all points of entry found unlocked or unsecured.
- Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
- Apprehend or expel persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts in accordance with applicable laws.
- Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and unlocked security doors.
- Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of hospital property.
- Record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and other suspicious instances.
- Record all incidents in writing or electronic media.
- Assist local authorities with investigation of incidents committed on hospital properties.
- Report all criminal acts to the Public Safety Supervisor and/or local authorities.
- Assist hospital staff as required providing protection and safety to patients or other individuals.
- Adhere to all general orders and/or special orders as directed by the Public Safety Supervisor.
What We're Looking For
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Team & Environment
You will report directly to the Public Safety Supervisor.
