About the Role

International SOS Government Medical Services is hiring a Psychiatrist to provide comprehensive mental health assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for patients, ensuring appropriate care. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the healthcare team to promote mental well-being, manage psychiatric conditions, and facilitate crisis intervention.

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with psychiatric and mental health care needs, including urgent and emergency care, public health management, and case management for individuals and family units.
  • Provide gender-specific care, including transgender care and management of mental health care during pregnancy.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, providing direct care within your scope of practice.
  • Provide telepsychiatry services for patients at other facilities as needed and coordinate care with local primary care providers.
  • Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medication treatment services, including monitoring side effects or adverse reactions.
  • Provide comprehensive psycho-educational information regarding mental illness, treatment goals, benefits, risks, and support groups.
  • Utilize evidence-based algorithms and tools for patient assessment, medication management, and identification of medication-induced movement disorders.
  • Adhere to medical standards in accordance with policies, American Psychiatric Association standards, and legal requirements.
  • Perform various diagnostic and treatment procedures, including cognitive and behavioral psychotherapy, individual and group therapy, and somatic therapies.
  • Provide professional, recovery-based psychiatric care considerate of cultural and ethnic diversity.
  • Participate in comprehensive performance improvement and utilization management plans focused on quality, patient outcomes, and cost.
  • Prepare or oversee documentation, testimony, orders, and administrative requirements.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to staff on mental health treatment modalities, medications, and programs.
  • Analyze public health care trends in mental health and assist in developing policies to improve services.
  • Assume responsibility for non-psychiatric medical evaluation and treatment in emergency situations within your competency.
  • Examine patients, order diagnostic testing, provide necessary treatments and medications, and refer cases to specialists or hospitals as required.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of patient care and provide data for performance improvement programs.
  • Maintain medical records, prepare reports, and make recommendations on policy, procedures, training, and equipment.
  • Maintain functional proficiency with electronic health records and complete all required discipline-specific competencies and training.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with the Privacy Act and HIPAA regulations.
  • Adhere to and maintain awareness of all Policies, Procedures, Directives, and accreditation standards.
  • Adhere to and participate in Safety, Prevention, Infection Control, Quality Improvement, and Patient Education programs.
  • Attend and participate in general and medical staff meetings.
  • Teach clinical educational programs and work effectively in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment.
  • Adapt to sudden schedule changes and maintain flexibility in work requirements.
  • Communicate proficiently in English to develop positive rapport with patients, co-workers, and stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Navigate an electronic work environment including telehealth equipment, electronic health records, and web-based systems.
  • Utilize common Microsoft Office programs and demonstrate knowledge of regulations regarding confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all communications, fostering an inclusive and respectful work environment.
  • Complete required organizational compliance education for relevant certifications.

  • Commitment to complete and pass all discipline-specific competencies testing, initially and annually.
  • Commitment to complete all initial, annual, and ad hoc training as required.
  • Dedication to maintaining patient confidentiality and confidentiality of medical records, in compliance with the Privacy Act and HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to adhere to, and maintain awareness of, Policies, Procedures, Directives, Operational Memoranda and accreditation standards.
  • Willingness to adhere to, and participate in, Safety, Prevention, Infection Control, Quality Improvement, Patient Education and other programs and collateral duties.
  • Ability to attend and participate in general and medical staff meetings.
  • Experience and comfort working in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment.
  • Adaptability to sudden changes in schedules and flexibility in work requirements.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Proficiency in navigating an electronic work environment including use of telehealth equipment, electronic health records, web-based training and communications.
  • Moderate proficiency in common Microsoft Office programs, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity in all communications with coworkers and clients, fostering an inclusive and respectful work environment that values diversity.
  • Commitment to complete required organizational compliance education, including client-specified requirements for relevant certifications.
