The Propulsion Test Engineer will lead ground qualification testing of rocket propulsion systems, contributing to the design and development of test hardware, facilities, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems. This role spans all phases from concept through integrated hot-fire testing and system integration support.
Responsibilities
- Act as Test Conductor during hot-fire ground testing operations
- Oversee the propulsion test stand's data acquisition system and ensure proper calibration of all components
- Create and maintain test requirements, test plans, procedures, and post-test reports
- Design and build hardware for propulsion test stands and related infrastructure
- Perform system-level analyses and studies to support test execution
- Work on-site to prepare test locations for engine firing operations
- Diagnose and resolve issues with test stand systems
- Support the development and implementation of test stand control systems
- Organize and lead Test Readiness Reviews and post-test data evaluation sessions
- Assist technicians in assembling and installing components onto the test stand
- Conduct component and subsystem testing in preparation for full integrated ground tests
- Develop custom engineering tools as necessary to complete assigned tasks
- Maintain consistent and detailed communication with the Propulsion Test group lead
- Demonstrate personal integrity, accountability, and commitment to fulfilling responsibilities
Requirements
- Direct experience conducting test operations from the control room and leading test teams
- Hands-on experience with sensor instrumentation and calibration of test components
- Proven ability to write test plans, procedures, and detailed technical reports
- Experience designing hardware for ground-based propulsion testing
- Background in planning and executing tests at the component or subsystem level
- Direct involvement in propulsion system ground testing campaigns
- Strong communication skills to convey technical issues and solutions to diverse audiences
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage workload in alignment with organizational goals
- Capable of adapting quickly to shifting priorities and project demands
- Eligible to obtain and retain a security clearance
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in rocket engine testing environments
- Familiarity with high-pressure fluid system operations and safety
- Previous role as a Test Conductor in propulsion testing
- Current TS/SCI security clearance

Compensation
$101,000 - $146,500 (Level-II) or $120,500 - $158,000 (Sr.-level) per year
