As a Ground Systems Test Engineer, you will play a key role in advancing national defense capabilities by supporting the development and deployment of next-generation systems. You'll collaborate with technical teams and U.S. Space Force personnel to test, evaluate, and validate complex ground-based architectures for missile warning, tactical intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and environmental monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead testing, verification, and validation activities for large-scale ground systems, ensuring alignment with mission requirements
- Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies, including master plans, integration test plans, and verification matrices
- Identify critical risks early in the development lifecycle and recommend mitigation approaches
- Apply systems engineering principles to integrate hardware and software components across multidisciplinary programs
- Support engineering coordination across government agencies, contractors, and research centers
- Use Model-Based Systems Engineering tools to define system baselines and manage technical requirements
Qualifications
You should have a strong foundation in systems engineering and test methodologies, with proven experience in defense acquisition programs. Required qualifications include:
- Minimum of six years in test, evaluation, and system integration for complex defense systems
- Hands-on experience developing test plans, strategies, and reporting documentation
- Familiarity with IEEE 15288.1 and 15288.2 standards
- Knowledge of DoD acquisition frameworks including DoD 5000 series directives
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field
- An active Secret clearance
Preferred Background
- Experience with remote sensing ground systems and operational test agencies
- Master’s degree in a technical discipline
- INCOSE or CTEP certification in systems engineering
- TS/SCI clearance
- Experience contributing to program reviews and lifecycle validation efforts
Work Environment
This is a hybrid position requiring a mix of on-site and virtual work. Employees working remotely are expected to maintain camera presence during meetings. Some roles may involve occasional travel to government or contractor facilities. The work supports national security objectives and requires adherence to strict communication and collaboration protocols.
