The QA Engineer II will play a key role in ensuring product quality across LivePerson's enterprise conversational AI platform. This position involves designing and executing comprehensive test strategies for both UI and backend components while working closely with Product and Engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
What You'll Do
- Design and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for both UI and Backend components.
- Perform UI testing (functional, regression, smoke, exploratory) across web and mobile platforms.
- Conduct Backend testing, including API validation, microservices testing, workflow verification, and data integrity checks.
- Lead exploratory testing sessions using structured techniques to uncover edge cases and high-risk defects.
- Review user stories and acceptance criteria to ensure clarity, completeness, and testability before development begins.
- Apply risk-based testing to prioritise not only critical functionality but also high-risk edge cases, complex integrations, and areas with a higher likelihood or impact of failure.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to identify requirement gaps early and improve overall product quality.
- Identify, document, and track defects with clear, reproducible steps and ensure timely resolution.
- Participate actively in test planning, estimation, and test coverage discussions to ensure strong release quality.
- Maintain clear documentation of test progress, results, and coverage metrics.
- Own quality for specific product areas, contributing to release readiness and go/no-go recommendations.
- Help enhance QA processes and contribute to increasing automated test coverage across UI and Backend.
- Stay current with QA tools, trends, and industry best practices.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of experience in QA, with hands-on UI and Backend manual testing.
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, test planning, test strategy, and test coverage principles.
- Proven ability to write high-quality test plans, test cases, and exploratory test charters.
- Expertise in functional, regression, smoke, negative, and exploratory testing across UI and backend systems.
- Experience with API testing tools such as Postman.
- Ability to perform basic SQL queries or data validation for backend testing.
- Skilled in analysing requirements, identifying ambiguities, and ensuring testability.
- Familiarity with Jira or similar test/defect management tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
- Ability to mentor junior QA team members and contribute to QA best practices.
- Foundational understanding of automated testing concepts and interest in supporting automation initiatives.
Nice to Have
- ISTQB or equivalent certification.
- Experience with automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Nightwatch, and Selenium.
- Familiarity with CI/CD systems (e.g., GitLab).
- Knowledge of Java or JavaScript.
