Storage Strategies Inc (SSI) is seeking a Proposal Technical Writer to join their team. This is a full-time, remote position focused on crafting content for technical proposals and responses to federal contract opportunities, primarily for Navy engineering work.
What You'll Do
- Craft compelling content for technical proposals and responses to federal contract opportunities with a focus on Navy engineering work.
- Comply with timelines and deadlines set by management and manage time proactively, adhering to the Shipley model for proposal development.
- Conduct research, draft preliminary guidance materials and documentation.
- Participate in color team reviews, working autonomously to gather and refine content.
- Contribute to proposal overall solutioning and strategy development sessions, asking clarifying questions to proactively guide content development.
- Manage writing and content for multiple efforts or streams of technical data simultaneously.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- Knowledge of defense procurement and the proposal process following the Shipley model.
- Expertise in proposal technical writing and editing, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
- Proven ability to create and maintain a variety of technical documentation.
- Demonstrated experience in creating visually appealing and well-organized documents, including integrating diagrams, charts, and illustrations.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with engineers, developers, and subject matter experts to gather technical specifications and ensure document accuracy.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to ensure all documentation aligns with Government and DoD standards for clarity, consistency, and compliance.
- Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation for Government or DoD projects, ensuring alignment with compliance requirements and security protocols.
- Knowledge of business development lifecycle practices, such as Shipley methodologies.
- Experience with the federal government sector and proposal processes, with prior knowledge of Navy engineering subjects like ships, submarines, IT & governance, and aviation.
- Ability to gather feedback from end-users and stakeholders to improve technical documentation.
- Self-motivated, and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Experience with knowledge management practices, including the upkeep and organization of documentation for future use.
- Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint), Adobe Pro, and other industry-standard technical writing tools.
