EMC is looking for a Property Risk Control Director to lead and manage a specialized team serving as subject matter experts on property risks, perils, exposures, and protection methods. You will develop and implement property-specific strategies to support profitability and growth goals in collaboration with Underwriting, field leadership, and Claims.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage a specialized property Risk Control team that serves as subject matter experts.
- Develop and implement property-specific plans, strategies, and tactics to support profitability and growth goals.
- Provide input and make decisions on department, field risk control, and underwriting initiatives and projects.
- Proactively review EMC’s book of business and claims trends, collaborating with Corporate Office Underwriting to recommend changes.
- Serve as the technical lead for corporate office risk control and underwriting on property risk control matters.
- Support broader service efforts by developing the property risk control strategy at EMC, ensuring alignment with Underwriting.
- Lead the partnership of corporate and field risk control leadership to ensure a collaborative approach to property risk assessments and exposure mitigation.
- Identify, develop, and manage meaningful partnerships with industry associations to maintain subject matter expertise.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies that impact profitability on the property line of business.
- Drive the innovation focus for Risk Control property line of business, fostering a culture of creativity.
- Ensure alignment with organizational goals and spearhead the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies.
- Oversee the development and implementation of property risk control performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
- Oversee and monitor the workload and performance of the property team, performing all duties expected of a people leader.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in safety, engineering, industrial safety, fire protection, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Ten years of progressively responsible experience with loss control, safety, engineering, or related experience, including prior experience in property loss control including Large Property/HPR accounts.
- Excellent knowledge of industrial, construction, and fire protection safety.
- Excellent understanding of various nationally recognized standards and codes, such as NFPA, International Code Council, OSHA, and DOT.
- Exceptional proven ability to identify and visualize potential loss exposures.
- Superior customer relation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to motivate team members.
- Strong ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments.
- Excellent ability to translate data into actionable steps.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Occasional travel required; a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if driving.
Nice to Have
- Related master’s degree or designations preferred, such as Certified Safety Professional, CPCU or relevant market certifications.

Benefits & Compensation
- The hiring salary range for this position will vary based on geographic location, falling within either the $118,603 - $170,001 range or the $130,774 - $187,434 range.
