Mercury Insurance is hiring a Property Claims Specialist Field II

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve homeowners claims of moderate complexity in a timely and efficient manner, documenting with photographs, measurements, recorded interviews, repair estimates, and thorough file notes.
  • Conduct field inspections at least 50% of work time using a company car, traveling to customers' homes for on-site inspections, investigating coverage, and preparing detailed estimates.
  • Handle virtual claims by using imagery and advanced video technology to collaborate with onsite vendors and insureds to identify damage and write estimates from a virtual setting when needed.
  • Compare investigation facts against the policy to determine coverage, and extend or deny coverage as appropriate.
  • Establish reserve amounts within prescribed settlement authority and negotiate claim settlements, recommending claims exceeding personal authority to a supervisor for approval.
  • Communicate effectively and timely with insureds and their representatives to resolve issues and ensure customer satisfaction, including responding to phone calls, emails, texts, and written communication per Department of Insurance requirements.
  • Prioritize own responsibilities and manage claims workload to monitor progress and expenses, resolving inventory to conclusion.
  • Direct, monitor, and review files handled by independent adjusters to conclusion as needed.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Ability to obtain state-specific property claims licensing as required.
  • Must successfully participate and complete a formal property claims training program, which may be in person, virtual, or a combination.
  • Prior experience using estimating software like Xactimate.
  • Experience in a related field such as property claims, customer service, construction, restoration, or mitigation.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently with limited or no supervision on daily activities to investigate, evaluate, write estimates, negotiate, and resolve property claims.
  • Passion for outstanding customer service.
  • Ability to make quality decisions based on analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment, including negotiation skills.
  • Comfortable with and adaptable to new technology and business tools.
  • Ability to transition between physical, video, or photo inspection methods to write damage estimates, including climbing ladders to inspect roofing or attic space and crawl spaces, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills to handle varying workloads due to seasonal volume changes and catastrophes.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to drive to and from multiple locations, occasionally outside normal business hours.
