Freeport-McMoRan (FCX) is hiring a Project Manager Engineering I – Civil/Structural Design to lead our CAD design team. In this role, you will be responsible for the strategic direction and execution of engineering projects, fostering innovation and design excellence across the portfolio.
What You'll Do
- Manage, lead, train, and mentor a team of CAD Designers and Drafters.
- Establish project design objectives and technical specifications aligned with goals and timelines.
- Ensure design quality and consistency across all projects.
- Coordinate design reviews and updates with department leaders.
- Establish, document, implement, and continuously improve CAD standards of practice.
- Participate in front-end project planning and contribute to Project Execution Plans.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality assurance protocols.
- Coordinate design resource allocation with engineering department leads.
- Evaluate skillsets of new personnel prior to project mobilization.
- Collaborate and design procedural interfaces with other engineering disciplines.
- Manage project schedules, resources, and budgets related to design activities.
- Educate engineering personnel on software functionality to align with design best practices.
- Work with software vendors to resolve technical issues.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related area, and seven (7) years engineering experience relevant to assignment, including supervisory/lead and project management experience.
- OR a High School Diploma and twelve (12) years engineering experience relevant to assignment, including supervisory/lead and project management experience.
Nice to Have
- Experience managing a staff of design professionals, and with process development and execution.
- Drafting and Design experience.
- Expertise in guiding a transition to new design software.
- Expertise in developing, documenting, and implementing CAD standards of practice.
- Expertise with industry standard CAD tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex design projects and deliver results on time.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO, ANSI, ASME) and regulatory compliance.
- Knowledge of efficient plant layout.
