As a Project Lead Engineer - Substation, you will serve as the technical lead for brownfield substation projects, overseeing engineering execution from concept through delivery. You will ensure designs meet safety, quality, and contractual requirements while aligning with cost and schedule goals.
What You'll Do
- Apply established engineering methods to design and deliver substation systems, focusing on practical and efficient solutions
- Develop Single Line Diagrams for main and protection systems, including proper selection of primary and secondary equipment
- Conduct critical design calculations such as short circuit forces, cable sizing, earthing, illumination, and battery systems
- Produce engineering bills of quantities for materials including busbars, cables, connectors, and hardware
- Review specifications and designs for transformers, circuit breakers, isolators, control panels, and protection relays
- Support tendering activities by providing technical input, material lists, and effort estimates
- Coordinate with supply chain to define and confirm technical requirements with suppliers
- Supervise junior engineers and technical staff, assigning tasks and ensuring timely delivery
- Identify risks and opportunities, implement mitigation plans, and escalate issues with actionable recommendations
- Ensure all engineering activities follow safety regulations and reflect core values of integrity and accountability
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 6–8 years of hands-on experience in substation design and engineering
- Proven ability in preparing layout designs, including earth mat and cable routing
- Experience in protection scheme selection for lines, transformers, reactors, and busbars
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, CDEGS, and Microsoft Office
- Fluent in written and spoken English
