Role Overview
This position supports long-term care and senior living communities by ensuring safe, compliant medication practices through on-site evaluations and clinical guidance. Based in Charleston, SC, the Nurse Consultant conducts detailed audits, assists with new client onboarding, and supports quality improvement across pharmacy services. The role operates within a specialized pharmacy setting focused on clinical excellence and is not remote—regular travel (up to 75%) to local facilities is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe and assess medication administration procedures in nursing homes and provide actionable recommendations
- Conduct comprehensive audits including medication records, MARs, medication carts, storage areas, and triple-check verification processes
- Support new client implementations, ensuring smooth integration of pharmacy services
- Perform mock regulatory surveys to prepare facilities for official inspections
- Identify operational or clinical challenges and develop practical solutions in collaboration with care teams
- Act as a clinical resource to improve pharmacy performance and adherence to best practices
- Stay current on pharmaceutical standards by engaging with professional and regulatory organizations
- Complete additional duties as needed to support pharmacy operations and client needs
Qualifications
Required
- Active LPN or LVN license in the state of employment, or current National Certified Pharmacy Technician credential
- Minimum one year of experience in long-term care pharmacy or senior care facility operations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and intermediate computer skills
Preferred
- Two or more years of experience in long-term care pharmacy
- Direct experience in skilled nursing facilities
- Familiarity with federal and state regulations governing pharmacy and long-term care
Work Environment
This is an on-site role with significant travel to client facilities in the Charleston area. Candidates must live within a commutable distance. The position does not support remote work and requires consistent local availability.
