The YMCA of Southwest Florida is hiring a Program Director responsible for developing, organizing, and implementing high-quality community programs. This role oversees Sports, Afterschool, and Summer Camp programs across Desoto County.
What You'll Do
- Direct and supervise program activities for Youth & Adult Sports, Day Camp, and Before & After School programs.
- Recruit, train, develop, schedule, and direct personnel and volunteers.
- Review and evaluate staff performance, developing strategies to motivate and achieve goals.
- Establish new program activities and expand program reach within the community.
- Assist in marketing and distributing program information.
- Organize program registrations and assist with processing scholarship applications.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Develop and monitor the program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Coordinate use of facilities for program activities and events.
- Assist in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
- Respond to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Assist with Program Committee meetings.
- Compile program statistics and evaluate program effectiveness and participation.
- Organize and oversee program activities and events.
- Recruit, coordinate, and ensure screening for volunteers from the local community.
- Coordinate and monitor teen summer camps.
- Organize and conduct Leaders Club/Leadership High School activities and events.
- Secure facilities for program activities and events.
- Facilitate participation in community events, expos, and open houses to increase program awareness.
- Uphold all staff safety requirements, including cleaning protocols throughout the day.
What We're Looking For
- Successful completion of a State of Florida Criminal History Background Check.
- Meet the Association’s policies on background screening.
- Employment is contingent upon completing a required Level 2 background screening through the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse.
- CPR and First Aid Certifications are required.
- Annual completion of YMCA’s Blood Borne Pathogens training.
- Annual completion of YMCA of the USA Child Abuse and Neglect class.
- Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
- Compliance with Staff Safety Requirements and Cleaning Protocols.
- On-site attendance is required.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
- YUSA Team Leader Certification.
- One to two years of related experience.
