The University of Toronto's Temerty Faculty of Medicine and the Division of Geriatric Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre are seeking a Professor to serve as Division Director. You will provide inspirational leadership, drive clinical excellence, and advance the academic mandate for a division of 7 full-time academic geriatricians. The role encompasses clinical care, administrative duties, and research, teaching, or quality improvement work aligned with your academic focus.
What You'll Do
- Provide inspirational and aspirational leadership to drive clinical excellence and advance the academic mandate of the Division of Geriatric Medicine.
- Lead clinical services and undergraduate and postgraduate educational activities while promoting scholarly work.
- Manage the Division of Geriatric Medicine, including its team of 7 full-time academic geriatricians.
- Fulfill clinical care and administrative responsibilities.
- Engage in research, teaching, and/or quality improvement activities aligned with your academic focus.
What We're Looking For
- Hold an MD degree.
- Have, or be eligible for, certification in Geriatric Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
- Be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
- Be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto.
- Fulfill the academic position description of a Clinician Teacher, Clinician Educator, Clinician Quality Innovator, Clinician Investigator, or Clinician Scientist.
- Be a respected scholar with an outstanding reputation in clinical research, education, or knowledge translation.
- Have demonstrated clinical excellence in geriatric medicine.
- Possess sophisticated interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaborative working relationships across the organization and with partners.
Nice to Have
- Assistant Professors with demonstrated leadership experience relevant to the role may also be considered.
Team & Environment
You will lead the Division of Geriatric Medicine within the Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The division currently comprises 7 full-time academic geriatricians. You will report to the Physician-in-Chief at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
Benefits & Compensation

- Participate in the department's group medical, dental, and life insurance benefit plans.
- Compensation range: $300,000 - $400,000 (fee for service/alternate funding plan estimate) commensurate with academic rank, qualifications, and experience.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position located at the St. George (Downtown Toronto) campus.
