Own the financial backbone of a growing SaaS platform. As the Product Owner for Billing & Payments, you’ll lead the strategy and execution behind core financial workflows including tuition billing, invoicing, payment processing, and reconciliation. You’ll serve as the go-to expert across the organization for all matters related to financial transactions, ensuring systems are reliable, compliant, and built with both customer experience and revenue integrity in mind.
What You’ll Do
- Guide Agile development teams with clear direction and prioritized initiatives for billing and payments
- Manage and refine the product backlog, balancing customer impact, risk, and strategic goals
- Write detailed, testable user stories and acceptance criteria that align with platform standards
- Lead refinement sessions to ensure teams are prepared for upcoming sprints
- Act as the internal authority on tuition billing, subsidies, third-party payers, and payment reconciliation
- Collaborate with engineering, QA, and external payment providers to deliver secure, scalable solutions
- Support incident response and root-cause analysis for financial system issues
- Help define metrics for payment success rates, error trends, and system performance
- Work cross-functionally with Customer Support, Finance, and Professional Services to ensure operational feasibility
- Champion Agile practices and continuously improve delivery processes
- Stay current with industry trends in SaaS billing, fintech, and transaction systems
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years as a Product Owner or similar role in a technical environment
- Proven experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Direct experience supporting or owning billing, payments, or financial transaction systems
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and technical stakeholders
- Familiarity with QA processes and test coverage for critical financial workflows
- Understanding of system integrations and application architecture
Nice to Have
- Background in SaaS billing or payment platforms
- Experience working with payment processors or financial service providers
- Exposure to fintech, high-volume transaction systems, or subsidy-based payment models
