Airtable is looking for a Product Design Manager, Enterprise to join our enterprise growth team. In this role, you’ll lead a small team of designers while staying hands-on, focusing on AI adoption for large organizations. You’ll split your time between people leadership and individual contribution, driving design quality from the front.
What You'll Do
- Manage 1-3 product designers: provide clear ownership, direct feedback, and the support they need to grow and do their best work.
- Own your team’s feedback culture, setting a high bar in a constructive way.
- Know each person’s growth edges; give specific feedback, create stretch opportunities, and invest in their development.
- Manage resourcing for your area: scope work to match capacity, flag tradeoffs early, and protect your team from overload.
- Partner with PM and engineering leads to define roadmaps and success metrics, and execute against them.
- Use design-led exploration—early concepts, AI prototyping, jams—to help your team define problems and solutions.
- Engage directly with enterprise customers and users.
- Own end-to-end design for significant work in your area, from problem framing through final details, alongside your team’s projects.
- Set the quality bar through your own output as much as through feedback.
- Stay close enough to the work that your perspective is sharp and grounded in business and technical nuances.
What We're Looking For
- 1-2 years of prior experience managing designers.
- Strong and current design craft: you produce work you’re proud of and can articulate why it’s good.
- Energized by both sides of the role (leading a team and doing the work) and able to manage your time across both.
- Gravitate towards complex problems, thriving on wrangling order and simplicity out of ambiguity.
- Like saying ‘we’ more than ‘I’.
- A self-starter who champions a good idea until it turns into something that works.
- Enjoy leading in a dynamic, quickly evolving environment.
- Inspire your colleagues to be the best versions of themselves.
Team & Environment
You will manage 1-3 product designers as part of the enterprise growth team, working closely with PMs, engineering, designers, other managers, and PMMs.
