Vetcove is hiring a Product Counsel

Vetcove is hiring a Product Counsel to provide legal guidance throughout the product development lifecycle. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, marketing, and compliance, to anticipate legal risks and ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations. This role is key to modernizing veterinary software and the pet parent healthcare experience.

What You'll Do

• Review and negotiate commercial contracts for all business functions, including software licensing and SaaS agreements, vendor agreements, service level agreements, distribution agreements, DPAs, and partnership agreements.
• Provide legal advice to support business partners across the company and work closely on new product launches.
• Contribute to the privacy program by drafting and negotiating DPAs and advising on compliance with data privacy laws.
• Assess and mitigate legal risks associated with new features, updates, and product launches.
• Work with internal stakeholders to develop and implement legal strategies that align with business goals.

What We're Looking For

• J.D. from an accredited law school with a strong academic record.
• Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
• 4-8 years of legal experience with a focus on technology and product counseling.
• Strong background in commercial contracting and tech transactions.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.
• Strong business acumen and the ability to provide practical legal advice.

Nice to Have

• Experience gained at a top-tier law firm (e.g., an AmLaw 100) or in-house at a software/tech-focused company.

Benefits & Compensation

• Compensation: $130,000/year - $180,000/year (typical US range); $140,000 - $170,000 (Colorado range) + equity.
