Fujitsu seeks a Principal Researcher to join the quantum research group at Fujitsu Research of America (FRA). You will be responsible for developing core technologies for Fujitsu's future quantum computer hardware, focusing on superconducting quantum computers and fault-tolerant quantum computing. This role is based in Santa Clara, CA and will involve international travel.
What You'll Do
- Conduct theoretical and/or experimental research on the development and improvement of superconducting quantum computers.
- Aim for fault-tolerant quantum computing in your research.
- Develop technologies to be incorporated into Fujitsu's future quantum computer hardware.
- Strengthen Fujitsu's quantum computing offerings in fields such as healthcare, material science, and finance.
- Interpret experimental results, identify device challenges, and lead technical discussions with experimental and engineering teams.
What We're Looking For
- Ph.D. in Quantum Information Science, Quantum Physics, Solid-State Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of academic or industry experience (after obtaining Ph.D) in theoretical or experimental research of superconducting circuits, mesoscopic physics, and/or circuit Quantum Electrodynamics (cQED).
- Excellent publication record.
- Deep expertise in at least one area (Theory & Modeling OR Experimental Quantum computer), with strong foundational understanding of the others.
Technical Stack
- Programming: Python, Julia, C++
- Simulation: COMSOL, Ansys HFSS, Custom quantum simulation software
- Experimental: Cryogenic setups (dilution refrigerators, cryostats)
- Measurement: Microwave techniques (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, arbitrary waveform generators)
