PG&E is hiring a Principal Regulatory Analyst to shape and advocate for the company's positions with regulatory bodies. This position is headquartered in Oakland or Sacramento, California. You will develop regulatory strategy, represent PG&E with state and federal regulators, manage rulemaking proceedings, and work with industry trade associations.
What You'll Do
- Develop, facilitate, and strengthen relationships with regulators, industry experts, and stakeholders to advocate for the company's policy and regulatory positions.
- Represent PG&E in public forums as a subject matter expert, providing clear and persuasive positions on regulatory issues.
- Lead the identification, development, implementation, advocacy, and resolution of complex policy issues with significant customer or financial impact.
- Lead interdepartmental and intercompany teams in the preparation of applications, filings, testimony, and work papers for regulatory proceedings.
- Perform and approve complex policy, regulatory, and strategic analysis affecting multiple lines of business.
- Assimilate large volumes of information and distill it into compelling arguments.
- Approve applications, filings, testimonies, exhibits, models, pleadings, and other documents for regulatory proceedings.
- Examine and prepare expert witnesses and interventions; may prepare and give testimony as an expert witness.
- Inform director and senior management regarding regulatory developments, meeting outcomes, and proposed regulations.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, public policy, finance, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent utility industry experience.
- Eight years of relevant work experience.
Nice to Have
- Electric engineering background with utility industry experience to support technical interpretations of compliance requirements.
- FERC utility policy experience or utility operational experience.
- A Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience in a regulatory, analytical, communications, or public affairs role.
- Electric industry experience.
- Experience in leadership or leading teams.
- Advanced understanding of contract provisions, counterparty concerns, and the implications of specific contract language.
- Ability to lead contract and settlement negotiations.
- Ability to synthesize and distill highly complex data for diverse audiences and lead company regulatory activities.
- Advanced collaboration and interpersonal skills to build relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to employ subject matter expertise to anticipate and resolve complex issues with minimal supervision.
- Ability to analyze complex problems and make decisions despite incomplete information and limited time.
- Ability to provide direction, training, and guidance to other regulatory analysts.
Benefits & Compensation
- Minimum Base Salary (Bay Area): $140,000
- Mid Base Salary (Bay Area): $189,000
- Maximum Base Salary (Bay Area): $238,000
