MealSuite is seeking a Principal Platform Engineer to serve as a subject matter expert and lead the evolution of our internal developer platform (IDP) and core infrastructure. In this advanced individual contributor role, you will drive innovation, improve reliability, and partner across engineering to design scalable, secure, and high-performing systems.
What You'll Do
- Lead and evolve our internal developer platform (IDP), extending platform capabilities while improving reliability, scalability, and security.
- Design and implement scalable infrastructure patterns that support global product growth and long-term architectural strategy.
- Automate testing, deployment, and configuration management using modern Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to reduce operational toil.
- Strengthen observability across the stack (infrastructure, OS, networking, APM) and improve monitoring, alerting, and operational runbooks.
- Partner with engineering teams to ensure infrastructure meets application performance, load, and resiliency requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex production performance and availability issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventative improvements.
- Mentor and coach engineers, championing best practices in automation, operational excellence, and technical decision-making.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, or similar roles with increasing technical ownership.
- 3–5 years of technical leadership experience in a senior or principal-level capacity.
- Deep experience managing cloud-based service deployments focused on resilience, performance, and secure configuration.
- Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), deployment automation, and CI/CD practices.
- Broad observability knowledge spanning infrastructure, operating systems, networking, and application performance monitoring.
- Strong experience engineering and supporting database and messaging platforms.
- Linux configuration, performance tuning, and production troubleshooting expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to influence architecture decisions and mentor engineers across teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with VMware vSphere host management.
- AWS certification.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

- Compensation range: $145,000 – $165,000 USD / $117,000 – $140,000 CAD per year
