Marshfield Clinic Health System is hiring a Principal Network Engineer to apply expert networking knowledge to research, design, and implement complex, multi-vendor network infrastructure solutions. In this critical telecom-focused role, you will lead the technical design and implementation to ensure high performance, reliability, and security for the organization’s network.
What You'll Do
- Analyze business and technical requirements, identify broad network design issues, and provide solutions that meet organizational needs.
- Lead the technical design and implementation of LAN, WAN, wireless, and network security infrastructure.
- Develop and implement network policies, procedures, and standards aligned with industry best practices.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other network engineers.
- Collaborate with other IT teams, business units, and stakeholders to understand requirements and provide solutions.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
- Keep abreast of emerging network technologies, trends, and best practices and provide proactive recommendations.
- Work with vendors and service providers to evaluate and implement new network technologies, tools, and services.
- Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans for the networking infrastructure.
- Lead numerous concurrent network projects that improve performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Work closely with infrastructure and security architects, network engineers, business analysts, and leadership to ensure timely project completion and proactive maintenance.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- Eight years of experience in network engineering.
- At least two years in a senior or principal-level role.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with network routing, switching, LAN/WAN, wireless, network design and architecture, protocols, and security.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor network engineers.
- Advanced technical knowledge and experience.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills across technology disciplines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight as well as collaboratively as part of multi-disciplined teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to prioritize and lead multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
