DXC Technology is hiring a Data Center Technician to provide hands-on technical support within a CoLo data center environment in Ashburn, VA. You'll be responsible for hardware installation, basic networking support, ticket management, and on-site assistance for internal teams and external vendors.
What You'll Do
- Provide field support, including break/fix, hardware installation, and general hands-on IT assistance.
- Manage and update SNOW (ServiceNow) tickets and asset records.
- Perform networking troubleshooting, including crash carts, console connections, iLO/remote access tools, wired/wireless connectivity, and switch/router/cabling issues.
- Serve as on-site 'Hands and Eyes' support for remote network engineers.
- Escort third-party hardware vendors and ensure adherence to site policies.
- Perform rack-and-stack of servers, switches, and additional data center hardware.
- Handle cable management, including routing under raised floors and through endcaps.
- Conduct remote and on-site support for software/hardware installations.
- Safely lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED
- Understanding of basic networking concepts
- Ability to work in data center or telecom closet environments
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks in a server room setting
Nice to Have
- 5+ years of field support or data center experience
- Vendor certifications (Lenovo, HP, IBM, etc.)
- CompTIA certifications (A+, Network+, Security+)
- Apple device training or certifications
