At Cleveland Clinic Health System, we believe in a better future for healthcare. We are looking for a Telecom Engineer II to join our team and help transform the patient experience through reliable and innovative communication technology. In this role, you will provide engineering and architectural leadership for our enterprise-wide telecommunication systems, ensuring performance, availability, and reliability.
What You'll Do
- Provide evaluation, engineering, provisioning, and implementation for projects like new site build-outs and system upgrades.
- Interpret business needs to match them with effective and economical telecom equipment and applications.
- Create project budgeting estimates, including scope of work and contract reviews.
- Communicate production requirements for ongoing maintenance and support.
- Design and configure new and upgraded telecommunications hardware and software.
- Coordinate the installation of hardware, OS, applications, and peripherals.
- Develop technical environmental requirements for physical space, power, HVAC, and security.
- Participate in project and change control meetings for telecom solution placement.
- Use a standard Project Book to document all related activities.
- Design, plan, and schedule the integration of hardware, OS upgrades, and enhancements into production systems.
- Provide implementation schedules, monitor activities, and escalate issues to vendor support and senior management.
- Create documentation to support production turnover, ongoing maintenance, and equipment usage.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Services or Telecommunications, or a minimum of 10 years of equivalent experience.
- At least 10 years of experience in an information systems environment, including 5 years of hands-on support in a large multi-service environment.
- Experience with large-scale VoIP enabled PBX products supporting over 1000 stations (e.g., Cisco, Avaya, or NEC PBXs).
- For Information Technology Division caregivers, ITIL Foundations certification is required within 6 months of start date.
Nice to Have
- 10+ years of Telecom experience in a large, complex 24x7 environment.
- Proficiency with Avaya Call Manager, System Manager, and Session Manager.
- Proficiency with Esna Officelinx/Avaya IX Messaging.
- Proficiency collecting and analyzing complex SIP traces.
- Proven ability to manage upgrades of large Avaya CM systems in a hospital environment.
- Proficiency with Windows Server OS.
- Proficiency with Linux.
- Familiarity with VMware.
- Proficiency with Avaya CS1000 is preferable.
- Exposure to Cisco UCM is preferable.
