Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors was looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer (Remote - UK)

Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is hiring a Principal Mechanical Engineer to deliver engineering excellence in the design, assessment, and modification of complex mechanical systems for high-impact global infrastructure projects. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams in a highly regulated, safety-focused environment, acting as an intelligent customer on safety-critical contracts.

What You'll Do

  • Specify, produce, and assess mechanical design packages for infrastructure projects to ensure technical accuracy and compliance.
  • Define reliability, operational constraints, and maintenance requirements for mechanical systems including pumps, HVAC, pressure systems, cranes, and diesel generators.
  • Evaluate material conditions, ageing mechanisms, and overall design integrity to ensure safe and efficient operation of facilities.
  • Promote a robust safety and security culture in all work practices, acting as an intelligent customer for safety-critical contracts.
  • Develop practical, creative, and cost-effective solutions for design modifications and infrastructure improvements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure design compliance with British and international standards.

What We're Looking For

  • HNC or equivalent qualification in mechanical or a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Extensive experience in mechanical engineering, ideally in nuclear or other high-hazard industries.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems such as pumps, HVAC, cranes, pressure systems, and diesel generators.
  • Proven ability to make evidence-based decisions using multiple data sources.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Strong time management skills, able to prioritize multiple high-impact tasks effectively.
  • Experience interpreting and applying British and international mechanical design standards.

Nice to Have

  • Degree-level qualification or incorporated engineer status.
