AEMO is hiring a Principal Developer to lead the development of critical real‑time software that underpins the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM). In this role, you will provide technical leadership across major digital initiatives, guiding a team and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver high‑availability, mission‑critical software for real‑time power system operations.
What You'll Do
- Lead and mentor a team of Senior Developers, providing direction, guidance, and technical leadership.
- Work closely with stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable and secure software solutions.
- Design, build, and enhance mission‑critical systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and adherence to best practices.
- Participate in requirements, design, and peer‑review sessions to drive high‑quality delivery outcomes.
- Act as a key reference point for architectural decisions and solution direction.
What We're Looking For
- Extensive background as a Senior Developer or Technical Lead with experience in high‑availability, mission‑critical systems.
- Strong proficiency across modern Microsoft and web technology stacks (C#, .NET, SQL, REST APIs, JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks).
- Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, Azure cloud services, and containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Ability to engage stakeholders, simplify complexity, and drive technical direction.
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science and/or Engineering or equivalent.
Nice to Have
- Experience in energy markets, real‑time systems, or WA’s WEM Reform environment.
