Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is hiring a Principal Civil Engineer (Remote - UK)

About the Role

Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is looking for a Principal Civil Engineer to play a leading role in delivering complex infrastructure projects within the UK energy sector. You will work across all phases from feasibility studies and detailed design through to construction monitoring and operational support, combining technical leadership with hands-on engineering.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the civil engineering aspects of energy projects from concept through detailed design, producing drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules.
  • Provide expert guidance, review design work, and resolve project challenges with practical, results-oriented solutions.
  • Prepare clear and accurate technical reports, feasibility studies, and supporting project documentation.
  • Support site activities through inspections, surveys, and construction monitoring, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and sustainability standards.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, considering technical, environmental, and commercial factors.
  • Represent the organisation professionally in client engagements and contribute to business development opportunities.
  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering technical excellence and knowledge sharing within the team.

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (minimum 2:1)
  • Chartered Engineer status
  • Strong knowledge of UK energy sector codes and standards, including Eurocodes and British Standards
  • Proven experience in civil and structural design
  • Background in energy projects
  • Experience within a multidisciplinary consulting environment, delivering services across multiple project phases
  • Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit)
  • Familiarity with design tools in a BIM environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and a proactive, collaborative approach

Nice to Have

  • Experience ideally including foundations and structural assessments
  • Exposure to feasibility studies, site surveys, or due diligence reviews

Work Mode

This is a hybrid role with the option to work remotely within the UK. Office hubs are available in London, Oxford, and Horsham.
