Blue Cross NC is hiring a Principal Actuary to join our Pharmacy Analytics team. In this senior individual contributor role, you will shape pharmacy strategy through deep actuarial expertise and advanced analytics, translating complex data into actionable insights that drive business outcomes.

What You'll Do

  • Actively contribute to the success of the Actuarial Services team.
  • Handle highly complex actuarial modeling and provide expert consultative support for assigned projects.
  • Assist in pharmacy pricing for all commercial segments.
  • Develop and maintain the self-funded pharmacy pricing model, coordinating implementation with underwriting.
  • Perform comprehensive Pharmacy Trend analysis.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with key pharmacy stakeholders.
  • Assist in financial forecasting and support evaluation of financial impacts from PBM and other vendors.
  • Work effectively with external vendors, including PBM partner contacts.
  • Maintain continuing education requirements as set by the appropriate Actuarial governing body.
  • Participate in the Actuarial Development Program if still pursuing the FSA designation.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree.
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
  • 5+ years of experience in a related field.

  • Direct experience with Pharmacy Analytics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial and actuarial information to non-technical audiences and senior leadership.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and work effectively with internal and external partners.
  • Exceptional analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based, collaborative environment.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and able to work independently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
